Join local historian, Jim Blount, for “Conversations on Hamilton,” 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, at the Hamilton Lane Library for “Dixie Highway: Butler County’s First Super Highway.”
Blount will discuss how boosters depicted it as an “avenue of travel between the winter playgrounds of Florida and the summer resorts of Michigan.” Others called it, “a great highway from Michigan to Florida.” Long distance drivers now prefer other highways, but the name survives in Middletown, Hamilton, Fairfield and other communities.
