At our May 21st meeting, our three local history essay contest recipients from Ross High School received award medals in the first local history contest sponsored by the Morgan Township Historical Society. Pictured left to right are: Emily Burcham who received second place for her essay titled From the Seas, a story of Emmett Ray Burcham’s experiences in the Vietnam War. Third place was awarded to Kurtis Williams for his essay titled William Bebb, the 19th Governor of Ohio. Melody Conrad received first place for her essay called Fernald in Retrospect. Congratulations are extended to all three award recipients.
Our May speaker was Richard O Jones, former journalist and now an author of true crime history, who presented “Butler County, 1916.”
